Coffee Grind Size Guide

🫘 Coffee Grind Size Guide

Grind size is the single biggest lever you have for dialing in flavor. Too fine and your coffee tastes bitter; too coarse and it’s sour and weak. Use this interactive guide to find the right grind for your method.

🔧 Troubleshooting by Taste

😖 Bitter, harsh, astringent→ Grind coarser (over-extraction)
😤 Sour, sharp, thin→ Grind finer (under-extraction)
💧 Watery, weak body→ Grind finer or use more coffee
🐌 Brew taking too long→ Grind coarser (flow is restricted)
💨 Brew drains too fast→ Grind finer (water flowing through too quickly)
🌊 Muddy, silty cup→ Grind coarser or upgrade your grinder (too many fines)

Grinder settings vary by model and wear — use these as starting points. A burr grinder (even a budget one) will always produce more consistent grounds than a blade grinder. Consistency matters more than precision.
